Film programme

The three competition selections are the backbone of Cinema City Film Festival. The review programmes, on the other hand, introduce notable authors and their achievements, as well as film classics, documentaries, and musicals, thus making Cinema City a festival where every visitor can find his own cup of tea.

The review programme will, as always, present some of the most significant achievements in film industry, including musicals, homage to a domestic author, best regional films, a must see film classics, as well as the newest features of the world cinematography.

So far, the review selections introduced the audience with the works of the notable American animator Bill Plimpton, presented the retrospective of the works of Guillermo Arriaga, one of the most original storytellers of today, winner of the best screenplay award at Cannes 2005 and two times Academy Award nominee for best screenplay, as well as famous achievements brought to us by Aleksandar Sasa Petrovic, Zika Pavlovic and Miodrag Mica Popovic.

SELECTIONS

NATIONAL CLASS / Domestic film competition selection

National Class presents the best achievements of national cinematography and many exclusive premieres. All the films from this selection are competing for Cinema City awards. The festival will be host to many domestic film authors and film crews.

HUNGRY DAYS / An international competitive selection of the first and second film

Hungry Days is an international competitive selection that will present a very interesting first films from around the world.

EXIT POINT / International film competition selection

One of the main competition selections at Cinema City Festival is Exit Point, a selection of international films. Exit Point presents current, brave and different film creations of world cinematography as well as the laureates of the most significant festivals around the world such as Cannes, Berlin, Tribeca, and Sundance. Each film will have its Serbian premiere right here, in Novi Sad, and will also compete for Cinema City awards. Exit Point programme will take place at Arena Cineplex.

UP TO $10,000 / Competition selection of films made with a budget of less than $10,000

The third competition selection of Cinema City Festival is Up to 10,000 Bucks. It encompasses films made with the budget of less than $10,000. Authors from around the world have applied for this competition. The winning film in this selection will win prize money.

360°
Cross-section of world cinematography

360° selection will screen films most praised by the audience at some of the biggest film festivals, films carrying original and innovative signature of indie production.

HOMMAGE TO FOREIGN AUTHOR

So far, this selection presented the works of Guillermo Arriaga, Lee Chang-Dong, a renowned South Korean director, winner of 2008 Special Director’s Prize at the Asian Film Awards etc. This year we will introduce you to another giant of the world cinematography.

FOCUS: Hungary

Focus: Hungary selection, visitors of Cinema City festival will have a chance to get to know very interesting achievements made by Hungarian authors.

PLANET ROCK

This year Planet Rock presents films inspired by music. The music film is in expansion in the past several years. Great directors, actors and photographers have created films on music stars and legendary bands, whose exciting biographies and careers continue to attract public attention.
